The company was founded in 1964 to provide machinery sales and millwright services to industrial customers in Cumbria and the North-West.
In 1976 the Small Tools Division was established to supply consumables used by the machinery that we sold.
Our expertise developed around the equipment used by the nuclear reprocessing industry and the shipbuilding and submarine building in Barrow-In-Furness.
Today, Gilbert Machine Tools is a leading specialist machine tool supplier to the industrial base in Cumbria and the North West.
